Hello and welcome to ONEOFMANYFEATHERS.

Joseph Fire Crow - Northern Cheyenne

"The flute player honors his family, his wife and children and his people."

When I first heard the flute as a boy, it frightened me. Later in life, as a teenager, I heard it again. Deep in my heart, I knew that was what I wanted to do. At that time I just wanted to learn how to play the flute. Little did I realize that John Rainer was going to instruct me on how to make the flute.

It is done with your hands as you think and pray good thoughts. The flute will take shape and sing with the beauty that is in your heart and soul.

The songs are highly spiritual and powerful, evoking strong emotion and thought. They reflect feelings, which are of the spirit and cannot be seen.

The flute has taught me taught me patience, generosity and understanding-of myself and others. If has taught me stand on my own two feet, and to feel the earth beneath them.

"The music of the native American Flute has great meaning- it touches the soul. Joe FireCrow has opened a world of tradition with his artistry in building and playing the flute. His flutes are reviving the art of flute playing for a new generation. The haunting, spiritual tones of our son's flutes are uplifting, as well as soothing."
